Sydney's paperwork-only marriage office
We help couples who want to get legally married without turning it into a wedding. We are private celebrants, not a government office, and we keep the service cheap, easy, and helpful.

About The Service
What we care about
We built this site for couples who want to get married with the least fuss possible while still doing everything properly.
Plain language
We explain the legal process in normal Australian English so you can work out what to do quickly.
Low-cost service
This is a budget-friendly service for people who care more about being married than producing a wedding.
Private celebrants
We are authorised celebrants offering a registry-style service outside the government system.
Practical support
We help with timing, NOIM questions, witnesses, and the paperwork that must be done before the marriage.
Sydney-focused
We work from Sydney and Greater Sydney, with a CBD base and agreed locations across the region.
Part of Australian Marriage Offices
If you need another city, you can find it through Australian Marriage Offices.
Clear boundaries
What we do, and what we do not do
This is not a wedding company
The whole point of Sydney Marriage Office is to make the legal marriage easy. If you want more than that, we will happily point you to the right people. We do the legal marriage
That means the celebrant, the legal words, the signatures, and the registration paperwork.
We do not do full weddings on this site
If you want a full ceremony with guests and a personalised service, book Josh Withers.
We do not do elopements on this site
If you want a styled small wedding with planning and photography, book The Elopement Collective.
Book first
Click Get Married and complete the booking form.
Pay the fee
Your booking starts once the service is paid for.
Prepare the NOIM
Use NOIM Easy if you want help filling out the form.
We confirm once paperwork is received
The date, time, and place depend on when the NOIM arrives and our availability.
How we work
Step 1: You start online
Use the Get Married link to tell us about your situation and pay the fee.
Step 2: You prepare the paperwork
We tell you what documents are needed and how the NOIM should be witnessed.
Step 3: We confirm the appointment
After we receive the paperwork, we confirm the date, time, and place if everything lines up.
Step 4: We complete the marriage
You attend with two adult witnesses, we do the legal words and signatures, and the marriage is done.
Step 5: We lodge the paperwork
After the marriage, we register it so you can order your official certificate from NSW BDM.

What still matters
Legal basics
Simple does not mean casual. We still follow the Marriage Act and the Marriage Regulations.
The process starts with the Notice of Intended Marriage.
Usually the NOIM must be received at least one calendar month before the marriage.
Before the marriage, we also need to meet both parties in person as required by law.
Two people aged 18 or over must be present when the marriage happens.
The marriage itself cannot happen online.
We handle the paperwork carefully and speak to people in a direct, respectful, helpful way.
