A paperwork-only marriage is exactly what it sounds like.
It is the legal marriage, without the wedding. With Sydney Marriage Office it costs $780, and it is the cheapest way we offer to get legally married in Sydney.
That means:
- an authorised celebrant
- the required legal words
- two adult witnesses
- the signatures
- and the paperwork lodged afterwards
We are a private celebrant service, not a government office.

Paperwork only is deliberately short and simple. If you want it to feel more like a wedding, we have two ceremony packages that include everything above:
- Elopement Ceremony – $1,800: a short, personal ceremony and your own vows at a Sydney harbour, park, beach, or rooftop location.
- Wedding Package – $2,200: a fully personalised ceremony for your family and friends, with a planning session, readings, and rituals.

What happens
- Book Paperwork Only online.
- Pay the $780 fee.
- Prepare your NOIM. If you want help, use NOIM Easy.
- Have the NOIM witnessed by an authorised witness.
- Send the paperwork through.
- Once we receive the paperwork, we confirm the date, time, and place subject to availability.
- Attend the appointment with two adult witnesses and get married.
What the law still requires
Even though the service is simple, the legal rules still apply.
The NOIM must usually be given at least one calendar month before the marriage.
You both need to be legally free to marry.
You need the right ID documents.
Two witnesses aged 18 or over must be there. If you don’t have two, add witness help for $130.
The marriage must happen in person.
